Megan Chadwick
Sweet Crumb Bakery
Megan Chadwick grew up in the east Texas town of Longview. After two major life changes—a move to Central Arkansas in 2014 for her husband’s job, and the birth of their son—Chadwick decided to return to school to be a scrub tech and found work at North Little Rock Baptist Hospital. She began baking for her co-workers in the breakroom, and word quickly spread outside the hospital about the remarkable Texas baker. Chadwick recalls her boss saying, “We’re going to lose you someday to this.” In early 2019, she’d developed her cottage bakery business, Sweet Crumb Bakery, to the point where she felt comfortable taking it full-time.
Although the early days of the COVID-19 pandemic were filled with cancellations, it wasn’t long before Chadwick’s business again began to flourish, largely thanks to her frosted cookies and her willingness to accept smaller orders for more intimate gatherings. Chadwick has run up against the challenge of saying, “No,” to clients, but ultimately it’s made her stronger and allowed her a better work-life balance.
