The Center for the Study of Southern Culture and Square Books present the Twenty-Fourth Oxford Conference for the Book Wednesday, March 29 – Friday, March 31, 2017.
Friday, March 31 at 10:30 a.m., Toni Tipton-Martin, recipient of our 2014 John Egerton Prize and author of The Jemima Code: Two Centuries of African American Cookbooks, joins SFA editor Sara Camp Milam for a conversation about her recent book. Toni is also a co-author of three previous books and the creator of the SANDE Youth Project, a nonprofit utilizing organic gardening and nutrition education to teach at-risk families and youth about healthy eating and cultural heritage. Her work honors the African American cooks who nourished generations of Americans and asks compelling questions about regional identity and race.
