This summer, SFA explored the evolving foodways of the Lexington, Kentucky, area. Soup Beans serve as both a culinary staple of the region and a communal dish that connects Kentuckians past and present. SFA’s latest documentary film, “Souped: The Pinto Bean Story” explores the importance of the dish through Kentucky Chef Ouita Michel and her mentor Freda Raglin.
