The 2017 edition of Food Media South takes place on February 25 in Birmingham, Alabama. Tickets will go on sale Wednesday, November 16 at noon central time. In addition to big picture queries, Food Media South also showcases the practicalities of visual storytelling, investigates the digital promise of food stories, and discusses how content can drive events. A few of the presenters this year include:

- Tunde Wey, host of a traveling dinner and dialogue dinner series exploring Blackness in America
- Steven Alvarez, Assistant Professor of Writing, Rhetoric, and Digital Studies (WRD) at the University of Kentucky
