Counter Histories: Durham, NC

The Southern Foodways Alliance presents Counter Histories, a series of short films documenting the struggle to desegregate southern restaurants in the Civil Rights Movement.

This film shares the story of Durham’s Royal Ice Cream, and the actions of Rev. Douglas E. Moore, Virginia Lee Williams, Mary Clyburn Hooks, Vivian Jones, Claude Glenn, Jesse W. Gray, and Melvin H. Willis.
