Thirsty Thursday: Citizen Coke


For those who attended last week’s graduate student conference, hosted by the William Winter Institute for Racial Reconciliation and the Southern Foodways Alliance here in Oxford, Bartow J. Elmore was our keynote speaker. Author of Citizen Coke: The Making of Coca-Cola Capitalism, Bartow is also an environmental historian and teaches at the University of Alabama. His talk (and book) explored the ways Coca-Cola built a global empire, and the effects of that empire on cultures, environments, and economies. If you weren’t able to attend, no worries, the audio of his talk is below.
