2018 Summer Symposium features poet Frank X Walker

Frank X Walker, a professor at the University of Kentucky, is a founding member of both the Affrilachian Poets and the Bluegrass Black Arts Consortium, and also founding editor of PLUCK!, the new Journal of Affrilachian Art & Culture. Walker is a former Kentucky Poet Laureate who has authored nine poetry collections, including his latest, Inkstains & Watermarks: New and Uncollected Poems.

Frank is involved with many cultural arts organizations in Kentucky and presents at conferences and universities across the globe. He was the first Kentucky writer featured on NPR’s This I Believe series and PBS’s GED Connection series.  His poetry has been translated for the stage at the University of Kentucky.
