Nashville: Corn-fed and Cornbread City
2016 SFA Summer Symposium
June 23-25, 2016
Everything you need to navigate the 2016 Summer Foodways Symposium and Nashville is available here.
We’ll have a pint-sized copy of the schedule for the weekend waiting for you at registration. That document, which will be easy to pocket as we knock about Nashville, won’t include many of the materials linked here.
Click here to download and print:
—Curated Live Music Schedule for the weekend
—Driving Directions from the Loew’s Hotel to each venue
—Biographies of presenters, chefs, and special guests
—Curated City Guide of restaurants, music venues, and shopping spots
Please note the following:
While SFA’s Nashville Summer Symposium is a BYOC (Bring Your Own Car) event, we realize that not everyone who participates in the Nashville Summer Symposium will arrive with a car. If you’d be willing to offer rides to fellow attendees, or if you would like to ride along with someone who has a car, please fill out this survey no later than June 17.
At 5 p.m. CT on June 17, SFA will share the responses with everyone who participated. It will be the responsibility of individual attendees to make their own arrangements.
SFA’s Nashville Summer Symposium will require a good bit of driving (or strenuous walking for overachievers). Venues include, in this order:
Ruby (2411 Blakemore Ave – Thursday evening)
Green Brier Distillery (1414 Clinton St. – Friday morning)
Martin’s Bar-B-Q Downtown (410 4th Ave. South – Friday afternoon)
*Jubilee Hall at Fisk University (near corner of 17th Ave. North and Meharry Blvd. – Saturday morning)
The Parthenon at Centennial Park (2500 West End Ave. – Saturday afternoon)
*Do not use GPS to find Jubilee Hall because of road construction detours and closed routes. Follow these directions instead.
- From the Loew’s Hotel, head northeast on Hayes St. toward 21st Ave. N (0.4 mi)
- Left on 18th Ave. N (0.3 mi)
- Continue onto Dr. D.B. Todd Jr. Blvd (0.8 mi)
- Right on Jefferson St. (200 feet)
- Right into first driveway along the stone wall. At top of drive, turn left for parking lot.
*Open parking is available on campus Saturday mornings. Walk around the side of red brick Jubilee Hall and enter through the front doors.
The Fine Print
