SFA Cornbread Nation 7 Book Signing & Cooking Demo
Pepper Place Market
On Saturday, SFA’s John T. Edge will sign copies of Cornbread Nation 7: The Best of Southern Food Writing, edited by SFA member (and writer and editor and TV personality) Francis Lam. The signing will be at Pepper Place Market at 9:00 a.m., where John T will be joined by SFA board member Drew Robinson of Jim ‘N Nick’s Bar-B-Q. Together they will stage a cooking demo of a greens-driven gumbo recipe using seasonal ingredients from the market. Ann Taylor Pittman, a Cooking Light editor whose work appears in Cornbread Nation 7, will also be on hand. (Be sure to read her article “Mississippi Chinese Lady Goes Home to Korea,” which won a James Beard Award.)
The event is free, so you can save your pennies to pick up a copy of the book and buy fresh produce from local farmers. Also, with the summer heat, we highly recommend getting one of those delicious Pepper Place popsicles while you’re shopping.
