It’s the 16th annual National Farmworker Awareness Week (March 24-31). Today, there are an estimated 2-3 million men, women, and children who work in the fields in the United States. 85% of the fruits and vegetables we eat here are hand-picked by them. A new documentary, Food Chains, is trying to do its part to help encourage dialogue and support the numerous campaigns for farmworker justice. Just this week, Food Chains was nominated for a James Beard Award in the Special/Documentary category. And, this week only, you can watch the film on iTunes for only 99 cents.
