SFA Piggy Bank Dinners

So you want to host an SFA dinner? (Thanks, in advance.)

HERE'S HOW

1. Call and let us know what your plans are.
We’d love to talk with you about your ideas for the event. When we can, we’ll provide content and SFA swag. We’ll connect you with SFA folks in your area who can represent SFA for your guests. Contact Melissa Hall at 662-915-3366 or melissa@southernfoodways.org.

2. What we ask in return.
We request fair treatment for guest speakers and guest chefs: travel costs reimbursed, food costs covered, complimentary tickets offered to guest speakers. At least 20% of the net proceeds from the event should be given back to the SFA.

Make clear in your promotional materials that the event is FOR SFA rather than BY SFA.

Please use the SFA logo sparingly. Touting your membership and promoting the fundraiser are great. We know you are doing this because you want to support us. Please don’t use the event to imply that SFA endorses your business or event.

If you choose to show an SFA film at the event please do right by it. Show it on a screen appropriate to the size of your room. Show it at a time when folks will stop and pay attention. Run it all the way through the credits so that Joe York, SFA filmmaker, and his team get due credit.

3. How we handle PR.
Polished Pig Media (www.polishedpigmedia.com) handles SFA media relations. PPM will lead the PR effort, working with the host’s PR or marketing person (internal or external) to co-develop a joint promotional plan for the event
PPM will develop a promotion plan via SFA media lists and supporter lists. All marketing materials, including press releases, e-blasts, social media invites, etc. need to be approved in advance by SFA and PPM.

4. What we promise.
We’ll make sure that your event makes it on to SFA’s online calendar. Two weeks out we’ll blog/Facebook/Twitter about the event to help support ticket sales. If your event is projected to raise at least $2500 for SFA then we’ll make sure that each of your guests has a copy of an SFA film or a recent copy of Gravy to take home with them.

SFA is VERY GRATEFUL that you want to support our documentary work through a fundraiser. Our fundraiser guidelines stem directly from our Values Statement. To learn more about SFA’s Values, click here.
